![]() HEADLINERS RCBC, Malayan Bare Top Management Appointments ![]() ![]() RCBC, following its annual stockholders meeting last June 22, announced the election of Alfonso "Tito" Yuchengco III (photo shown) as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Cesar E.A. Virata as Corporate Vice Chairman and Valentin A. Araneta as President and Chief Operating Officer. Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco remains chairman of the RCBC Board of Directors and Executive Committee. As Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, the younger Yuchengco shall be taking over the chief executive’s role from Francisco A. Dizon who had been President and CEO since July 1997. Yuchengco will direct the overall management and strategic future directions of the bank. Dizon, however, continues to be connected with RCBC as a member of its Advisory Board. Francisco Dizon has opted to return to his own company, Pacific Northstar Inc., where he is Chairman and President. Virata, in his capacity as Corporate Vice Chairman, will exercise the powers and duties of the chairman in the latter’s absence or inability to act. He is also concurrently Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee. Araneta, the bank’s new President, joined RCBC in July last year after a brief stint with Great Pacific Savings Bank. Before that, he served Philippine National Bank from 1989 to 1996, occupying various positions of increasing responsibility, including that of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Meanwhile, Malayan Insurance also underwent a minor facelift, resulting in a "leaner and more dynamic organization." The company underwent a corporate restructuring, and reconstituted its divisions and departments to be more responsive and reliable. Malayan President Yvonne S. Yuchengco comments that "the new corporate organization allows us to focus on the needs of our customers and agents." Heading the new cast are William Cua, now Head of the Operations and Support Group, Antonio "Sonny" M. Rubin as Head of Customer Relations and Matias D. Simbulan as Head of Underwriting. Ma. Theresa B. Tiu remains Head of the Management & Information Systems Division, while Gema Cheng is the Head of the merged Comptrollers Office and Finance Department. Alma Penalosa takes the role of Presidential Adviser on Special Projects. |
