![]() GRAPEVINE Mapua Celebrates 76th Anniversary Foundation ![]() ![]() Mapua Institute of Technology, known for its academic leadership in engineering and computer science, recently celebrated its 76th Anniversary Foundation. Established in 1925 by Don Tomas Mapua, the school is a member of the Yuchengco Group of Companies. Amb. Alfonso T. Yuchengco, who was recognized by the National Association of Mapua Alumni during Foundation Day for his recent Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Award, chairs Mapua's Board of Trustees. According to Dr. Reynaldo Vea, Mapua President, "our school is all-powered to expand in the new millennium not only to remain as one of Asia's best engineering schools, but more important, to become the country's new center of learning in Computer and information technology." The YGC takes pride in administering Mapua. The group has given full support to Mapua's development plan, spending millions in upgrading the school's faculty, curriculum, research, staff and student welfare. Dr. Vea, who was recently chosen the Most Distinguished Alumnus of the University of the Philippines Alumni Engineering added that with the solid support of the YGC and Mapua's Board of Trustees, the school's graduates will undoubtedly continue as the preferred staff and executives of large companies in the Philippines and elsewhere. |
