![]() GRAPEVINE 300 Japanese Execs at Subic; AY Guest-of-Honor ![]() ![]() A delegation of 300 Japanese businessmen and bankers arrived at the Subic Bay Freeport last March for the inauguration of the newly built wood processing plant of major Japanese investor Juken Angyo. This is the first big Japanese trade mission, accompanied by Japanese journalists from major TV and news agencies, to come to the country. Subic Bay Chairman Felicito C. Payumo is optimistic that the visit will bring an increase in Japanese investments. Amb. Alfonso T. Yuchengco was the guest of honor for the inauguration of Juken Sangyo's facility, while Trade Secretary Manuel A. Roxas II was the guest of honor during the welcome dinner. Yuchengco is the country's Special Envoy to China, Japan and Korea. Juken Sangyo is engaged in the processing of world-class wood panels and decorative lumber boards. It is investing $20-million and will generate a maximum of 700 to 1,000 new jobs here. |
